You don’t have to be religious to have an appreciation of the incredible work some people undertake in the name of God. For millions of years, since the earliest inhabitants of our planet emerged into the sun, their belief in a higher power has enabled them to perform truly incredible acts and achievements.
The unnoticed missionary work, the unsung charity work, even the amazing architectural work that has created the cathedrals, mosques and countless other structures that punctuate skylines around the world.
We can count the pyramids of Central America and North Africa amongst those achievements as well the heroic exploits of characters such as David Livingstone, who took his beliefs with him into the dark heart of 19th century Africa and Mother Teresa of Calcutta who dedicated her life to helping the poor of that Indian city.
